# Connect Flowformance to your AI assistant

Add Flowformance to your AI assistant. Connect once and your team's SOPs are available right in chat — search them, get cited answers, and (as an editor) create or update SOPs by dictating or pasting. Everything is scoped to your workspace, and you authorize with your existing Flowformance login — there's no API key to copy.

Connector URL: `https://flowformance.com/mcp`

## Authorization

- **One-time OAuth.** When you add the connector, Flowformance opens a consent screen. Sign in with your existing account, choose your workspace, and click **Authorize**.
- **Reading** (search, fetch, cited answers) works for **any workspace member**. **Creating and editing** SOPs is available to **editors and admins** — new content lands as a **draft** for review unless you explicitly ask to publish it to your team. An assistant can edit drafts in public collections, but it never publishes a public SOP or changes one that is live on your public site — that's done in Flowformance.
- You can disconnect at any time: remove the connector in your assistant, or disconnect it under **Connected apps** in your Flowformance Personal settings.

## Claude

_Available on: Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise_

1. Open **Settings → Connectors** (Claude web or desktop).
2. Click **Add custom connector**.
3. Paste the connector URL: `https://flowformance.com/mcp`
4. Click **Add**, then **Connect**.
5. A Flowformance window opens — **sign in**, pick your **workspace**, and click **Authorize**.
6. Done. The Flowformance tools now appear when you chat.

> Claude connects from Anthropic’s cloud over OAuth — nothing runs on your device.

## ChatGPT

_Available on: Plus, Pro, and Business (developer mode)_

1. Open **Settings → Connectors → Advanced** and enable **Developer mode**.
2. Choose **Add** a connector / MCP server.
3. Paste the connector URL: `https://flowformance.com/mcp` and give it a name.
4. When prompted, **Authorize** — sign in and pick your workspace.

> ChatGPT calls custom MCP servers “connectors”; exact placement varies by plan and rollout.

## Perplexity

_Available on: Paid plans (remote MCP is rolling out)_

1. Open **Settings → Connectors**.
2. Add a custom MCP connector and paste: `https://flowformance.com/mcp`
3. **Authorize** when prompted.

> If your Perplexity build does not yet support remote MCP connectors, use the bridge below.

## Cursor, Windsurf, Zed, and MCP Inspector

_Available on: Any MCP-capable client_

1. Add a remote MCP server pointing at `https://flowformance.com/mcp`.
2. Complete the OAuth prompt in your browser (sign in + choose workspace).

## Local clients (bridge)

For a client that only speaks local (stdio) MCP — for example Claude Desktop configs — use the open-source `mcp-remote` bridge. It runs the OAuth handshake in your browser and proxies to the remote connector:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "Flowformance": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["mcp-remote", "https://flowformance.com/mcp"]
    }
  }
}
```

On first run, a browser tab opens for you to sign in and authorize; the bridge caches the grant.

## Tools

Read (any member):

- `search_docs` — Search your SOPs by text — editors also see drafts. Returns a link to each.
- `get_doc` — Fetch one SOP (or a draft, for editors) as markdown or steps.
- `list_collections` — List your collections (folders).
- `answer` — Ask a question and get a cited answer from your published SOPs.

Write (editors & admins):

- `create_doc` — Create a new SOP from markdown you provide. Lands as a draft.
- `update_doc` — Replace an SOP’s markdown and/or title; publish to your team on request. Public SOPs are changed in the app.
- `create_collection` — Create a collection (folder), team or public. Public SOPs in it are still published in the app.

> Screen recording cannot run inside a chat assistant (a host-security limit), so recording clicks stays in the Flowformance browser recorder. The connector covers reading, answering, and authoring.
