Authorize once
- One-time OAuth. When you add the connector, Flowformance opens a consent screen. Sign in with your existing account, choose your workspace, and click Authorize.
- Reading (search, fetch, cited answers) works for any workspace member. Creating and editing SOPs is available to editors and admins — new content lands as a draft for review unless you explicitly ask to publish it to your team. An assistant can edit drafts in public collections, but it never publishes a public SOP or changes one that is live on your public site — that's done in Flowformance.
- You can disconnect at any time: remove the connector in your assistant, or disconnect it under Connected apps in your Flowformance Personal settings.
Claude
Available on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise
- Open Settings → Connectors (Claude web or desktop).
- Click Add custom connector.
- Paste the connector URL:
https://flowformance.com/mcp - Click Add, then Connect.
- A Flowformance window opens — sign in, pick your workspace, and click Authorize.
- Done. The Flowformance tools now appear when you chat.
Claude connects from Anthropic’s cloud over OAuth — nothing runs on your device.
ChatGPT
Available on Plus, Pro, and Business (developer mode)
- Open Settings → Connectors → Advanced and enable Developer mode.
- Choose Add a connector / MCP server.
- Paste the connector URL:
https://flowformance.com/mcpand give it a name. - When prompted, Authorize — sign in and pick your workspace.
ChatGPT calls custom MCP servers “connectors”; exact placement varies by plan and rollout.
Perplexity
Available on Paid plans (remote MCP is rolling out)
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Add a custom MCP connector and paste:
https://flowformance.com/mcp - Authorize when prompted.
If your Perplexity build does not yet support remote MCP connectors, use the bridge below.
Cursor, Windsurf, Zed, and MCP Inspector
Available on Any MCP-capable client
- Add a remote MCP server pointing at
https://flowformance.com/mcp. - Complete the OAuth prompt in your browser (sign in + choose workspace).
Local clients (bridge)
For a client that only speaks local (stdio) MCP — for example Claude Desktop configs — use the open-source mcp-remote bridge. It runs the OAuth handshake in your browser and proxies to the remote connector:
{
"mcpServers": {
"Flowformance": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["mcp-remote", "https://flowformance.com/mcp"]
}
}
}On first run, a browser tab opens for you to sign in and authorize; the bridge caches the grant.
What the assistant can do
Read — any member
- search_docs — Search your SOPs by text — editors also see drafts. Returns a link to each.
- get_doc — Fetch one SOP (or a draft, for editors) as markdown or steps.
- list_collections — List your collections (folders).
- answer — Ask a question and get a cited answer from your published SOPs.
Write — editors & admins
- create_doc — Create a new SOP from markdown you provide. Lands as a draft.
- update_doc — Replace an SOP’s markdown and/or title; publish to your team on request. Public SOPs are changed in the app.
- create_collection — Create a collection (folder), team or public. Public SOPs in it are still published in the app.
Screen recording can’t run inside a chat assistant — that’s a host-security limit, not aFlowformance one — so recording clicks stays in the Flowformance browser recorder. The connector covers reading, answering, and authoring.
